End of Term

End of Term was Maeve Binchy’s first stage play. It was premiered by the Abbey Theatre in 1976.

Described by the Irish Times as “a feast of eavesdropping in an everyday school staffroom”, the  play centres on three teachers whose lives threaten to be exposed by a devious schoolgirl.

Written by a proud ex-teacher, there’s lots more behind the scenes than the end of term exam results.

The play features  Ruth McGill, Susannah de Wrixon  and Ali White as the three teachers. Paula McGlinchey plays Sr Dorothy and Michael Glenn Murphy the unwitting parent. Aoife Fitzpatrick is the schoolgirl on whom the plot turns.

Talkback after the performance featuring cast members and actor/novelist Claudia Carroll will be moderated by Gillian Binchy.
